Sarah Kanne heads up the Gibson Island Corporation Real Estate Office, a position she assumed in 2014. She is a full-time resident of Gibson Island, tracing her initial association back more than 43 years ago when her parents purchased a home on the Island. She has lived in three different houses on Gibson Island, the most recent being a new build. Sarah’s real estate experience, extensive knowledge of Gibson Island, and active involvement in Island affairs, further augmented by her background as a lawyer, enables her to ethically, effectively, professionally, and zealously represent those who sell and buy Gibson Island properties. Sarah has held many positions in the community including: Vice-President, Gibson Island Corporation; President, Gibson Island Historical Society (GIHS); Chair, GIHS Renovation Committee; Membership Chair, Gibson Island Club; and Gibson Island Corporation and Gibson Island Club Board Member. Unlike any other real estate agent, Sarah's real estate practice is exclusively dedicated to Gibson Island properties.
Gibson Island has maintained its own real estate brokerage for nearly 100 years. Initially called the Gibson Island Land Company when the Island was founded by Stuart Symington in 1922, it became Gibson Island Corporation Real Estate in 1950. The Gibson Island Corporation Real Estate Office is the official brokerage for Gibson Island properties, expertly representing sellers and those seeking to purchase a home on the Island. The office also manages a limited number of rental properties, most of which are owner-occupied.
